Understanding Principle-Based Reserving and the 2017 CSO

On-Demand Replay

Changes are coming to how life insurance is priced. Learn more about how these changes affect you and your clients.

You might not be familiar with principle-based reserving (PBR), but it is a key component of how life insurance policies will be priced in 2020 and beyond. It determines how much insurers need to set aside in reserves for specific blocks of business. State insurance commissioners agreed to update pricing in 2017, and they gave carriers until Dec. 31, 2019 to implement the required changes. Although many pricing changes so far have been minimal, we will see a significant wave of product changes before the end of the year.

Watch as we walk through:

  • What we know about the impact of the legislation
  • What to expect through the end of the year
  • When it makes sense to get policies completed in 2019
